We are seeking a skilled and highly motivated Industrial Electrical Engineer to join our team. As an Industrial Electrical Engineer at Rigorous, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining electrical systems for industrial automation and robotic systems. Your expertise will be vital in ensuring the efficient and effective operation of electrical systems, meeting project objectives, and contributing to overall product excellence. You’ll work primarily at the Rigorous facility with occasional travel required for testing, installations, and service. As our team grows, you’ll collaborate with systems engineers, robotics engineers, software engineers, and technicians. Your expertise in electrical systems and automation will be crucial in maintaining the electrical integrity of our robotic systems throughout the design and construction process.


Responsibilities


  • Design, implement, and maintain electrical systems and components for industrial automation and robotic systems.

  • Collaborate with the engineering team to develop and refine electrical system designs that meet project specifications, performance, manufacturability requirements, and industry standards.

  • Develop specifications and documentation, including electrical schematic and bills of materials, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

  • Conduct troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of electrical malfunctions or inefficiencies, recommending corrective actions or system upgrades.

  • Continuously evaluate the performance and reliability of electrical systems, recommending and executing improvements to safety, compliance, sustainability, productivity, and cost.

  • Build and install industrial control cabinets according to design specifications and industry standards.

  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers for integration of electrical components with mechanical systems.

  • Identify potential safety hazards and take appropriate actions to mitigate risks associated with electrical systems.

  • Develop and maintain project documentation, including design records, reports, test procedures, and change control documentation.

  • Direct and coordinate manufacturing support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, and customer requirements.

  • Develop and maintain Rigorous design, production, testing, and maintenance systems.

  • Support clients, operators, and Rigorous technology in the field.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or relevant technical certification preferred.

  • Proven experience as an Electrician, experience in the industrial space with robotics and/or automation is a plus but not required.

  • In-depth knowledge of industrial electrical systems and assembly practices.

  • Proficiency in reading and developing electrical schematics and drawings.

  • Familiarity with industry standards and codes related to electrical systems.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and analytically.

  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities, with strong technical writing skills.

Job Description

The Operations Coordinator is responsible for providing administrative support to the Rigorous management team by maintaining daily tasks to ensure the organization can run efficiently. You will also be assisting with projects, processes and company initiatives across multiple departments.

Reporting to the Office Manager, you will be supporting a dynamic and all encompassing operations team within a range of business functions including, but not limited to, Finance, HR, Workplace Services, Marketing & Sales.

Rigorous is looking for a self-motivated individual, who has excellent communication skills and will embrace the opportunity to learn. You will be highly organized with the ability to prioritize and multitask based on the current needs of the business operations and management teams.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in Human Resources tasks from recruiting to policy implementation, as well as maintaining records and general admin.

  • Fulfill financial activities to assist the monthly bookkeeping process.

  • Draft or edit social media posts, newsletter articles, and blogs.

  • Research prospective customers, curating lists with key business information relevant to sales outreach.

  • Maintain and update databases & software tools across departments.

  • Collate and distribute monthly management reports for the main business functions.

  • Front Desk duties including visitors, mail, phone system, office supplies and other admin responsibilities.

  • Schedule, arrange and collect weekly employee lunches.

  • Assist with events, both employee and company.

  • Assemble desks and help with tasks related to setting up new employee work spaces.

  • Help the engineering team with robotic system testing including recording test results and preparing test setup.

  • Assist management team as needed with projects and tasks.

As a mechanical engineer at Rigorous, you will be responsible for assisting in the design, prototype, and development of mechanical components of automated robotic systems. Your expertise will be vital in ensuring the efficient and effective operation of mechanical systems, meeting project objectives, and contributing to overall engineering excellence. You’ll work primarily at the Rigorous facility with occasional travel required for testing, installations, and service. As our team grows, you’ll collaborate with systems engineers, robotics engineers, software engineers, and technicians.

  • Collaborate with the engineering team to develop and refine mechanical system designs that meet project specifications, performance & manufacturability requirements, and industry standards.

  • Design, analyze, develop, test, and integrate mechanical and electrical systems for autonomous robots.

  • Assist in the design and modification of engineering drawings, schematics, and technical drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) software.

  • Conduct FEA simulations, calculations, and tests to determine the functionality, performance, and reliability of mechanical components and systems.

  • Develop and maintain project documentation, including design records, reports, test procedures, and change control documentation.

  • Direct and coordinate manufacturing support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, and customer requirements.

  • Develop and maintain Rigorous design, production, testing, and maintenance systems.

  • Support clients, operators, and Rigorous technology in the field.

  • Write and maintain documentation and knowledge base materials.

Ideal Requirements

  • Degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, math, physics, or a similar field. Technical degrees will also be considered.

  • A minimum of two years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer or equivalent in a related engineering role.

  • Experience working on large mechanical assemblies or functioning as an engineering lead for assembly teams & technicians is a plus.

  • Proficiency in OnShape Mechanical or similar CAD design software, including drafting, preparing drawings for production, FEA, and simulations.

  • Strong working knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics.

  • Strong working knowledge of ASME drawing standards, GD&T and experience producing drawings for:

  • Machined Parts (milling and lathe operations)

  • Sheet Metal

  • Weldments (with & without high precision secondary machine operations)

  • Assemblies

  • Plant Layouts

  • Clear understanding of the Linux operating system, embedded systems, and embedded Linux is a plus.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and analytically.

  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities, with strong technical writing skills.

  • Experience with simulation, modeling, and analytical software (e.g., SimScale, Python )
