Rigorous Technology is a robotics company with a mission to make robotics accessible to all businesses. We do so by building application-specific products that leverage advanced software and the most flexible machines out there - robots.

We primarily support industrial manufacturers with a focus on small to medium size companies in the Northeast. We build robots that help humans who make things. Rigorous develops manipulation and control software; each project and product builds upon the RGS software platform.

Job Description

The General Manager will manage day to day business operations at Rigorous. You will be a critical member of the leadership team and work closely with the CEO and COO to support marketing, sales, finance HR, and project management activities.

The General Manager is Rigorous’ first business operations employee. As such, you will be required to develop and implement processes across a variety of business functions. The General Manager role can develop over time into a specialist or generalist role depending on the goals of the right individual.

The General Manager will be a highly analytical and detail oriented professional with broad business education or experience. The GM will be responsible for regular bookkeeping and presentation of financial reports, marketing & sales operations and KPI implementation & tracking, and managing benefits and employee administration. Great planning, communication, and organizational skills are necessary for success.

You will work closely with the leadership team to establish performance metrics and report upon them. You will build upon the systems in use and implement new processes.

You’ll work primarily in the Williston robot lab or other Rigorous offices with limited travel required for sales or client success support. This is a dynamic role – while your day-to-day will rarely repeat, we will rely upon you to create a roadmap for those who work under you now or in the future to repeat your systems effectively.

You’ll work under the direction of our COO and co-founder Diane Abruzzini. You will collaborate with a team of cross-functional engineers.


  • Develop key performance indicators, report on performance, and strategize improvements.

  • Collaborate with leadership team on strategis for growth and profitability.

  • Fulfil regular bookkeeping responsibilities, including AR/AP, payroll, employee reimbursements, and monthly reconciliation.

  • Manage purchasing and inventory across a variety of projects and products.

  • Develop relationships with clients and prospects to identify needs and opportunities.

  • Set up, manage, and report on marketing efforts and digital ad spend.

  • Proof and edit contracts, proposals, and marketing collateral.

  • Proactively identify opportunities for improvement, organization, or investment.

  • Participate in coordinate staffing requirements and hiring.

  • Analyze projects and products for efficacy, profitability, and market potential.

  • Set a motivating, professional, fun, and engaging work environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Typically possessing a business education and/or experience in a technical or industrial industry.

  • Detail-oriented, analytical mindset.

  • Confident yet humble approach to work. Motivation to increase skills, experience, and industry knowledge over time.

  • 5-8 years of experience in marketing operations, sales operations, finance/accounting, human resources, and/or general administration.

  • Interest and experience managing team members, increasing motivation, holding team members accountable, sticking to deadlines, mentoring growth, and helping your team achieve their professional goals.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Exceptional work ethic, ability to work independently or collaborative, motivation to meet deadlines.
